The story of the 388th is told in many ways - books, logs, memoirs, articles (magasine,
newsletter, newspaper, videos, audio etc.) We have tried to identify as many of those as
we can.

The books of this list all mention the 388th. In some cases the books are completely dedicated to
describing the 388th, while others may devote a chapter to a 388th's crew's experience on a
single mission, and still others just briefly make mention of the 388th.

Personal Accounts
Many of the veterans kept logs or wrote up their memoirs after the war. These short accounts usually
give the perspective of what the person experienced both in combat and between missions. Generally
these accounts are unpublished manuscripts.

The 388th Bomb Group Association has published a newsletter four times a year for many years. The
newsletters contain a wealth of information touching on many aspects of the 388th. The newsletters
started out pretty simple but over the years have turned into a very professional publication.

388th Bomb Group, Fortress for Freedom
Ed Phillips wrote this classic in 1946. It is often called the Brown Book because of its brown cover. This book
provides narratives that describe many of the aspects of the 388th. It also contains many photos
and lists.

Ed Huntizinger wrote this classic in 1979, often called the Blue Book because of is blue cover. This book
provides a comprehensive history of the 388th with a short write up for each of the combat missions
It contains many photos, mission group formation charts, list of crewmen shotdown.
